Secrets of My Mind

He offered a penny for my thoughts But I was afraid to let him share The secrets of my mind... Afraid he would laugh or perhaps Misunderstand, think me foolish. We said goodbye and he never knew I loved him... I find no comfort with the secrets Of my mind And wonder if he gives thought now To the foolish girl he left behind.

The rhyme at the end is so powerful for some reason. I think it's because it's the only rhyme in the poem so it stands out more. I understand this poem, but from a guys point of view. It happens all to often doesn't it?

Denver, Thank you for your comment. It does happen too often...I still wonder, although it happene long ago. I love having a "guys" point of view.
