Secrets and Lies

SECRETS AND LIES  

I am an open
book and I don’t give
a damn, what others
think or say of me.

Yes, reputation!
That is others’
opinion of you.

Secrets and lies,
others keep or tell
to hold themselves
on a pedestal
with good and sound
reputation.

They value what
others think and say,
lose their own values
of being true to
themselves or
accepting who they
are and being 
accountable for
what they do or say.

How can they keep on
living in pretense? 
How can they carry
on with the charade?

Aren’t they bothered by
their secrets and lies?
I wonder?
