Secret of Happiness

SECRET OF HAPPINESS

If a morsel

Of

Egoism on the altar of love one sacrifices
Each day

Manifold

The gains of heart and soul in happiness
Would be!

“Care for you more than you can care for yourself! “ , very true comment. I am one of those wife’s that wait hand and foot on my husband, always have, it’s my background, I guess, he’s my soul mate. That is no excuse but ..... 7

There is much wisdom in these few words. There is a danger however with a complete lack of ego, because then one can cease to love themselves and start to believe they are not worthy of love. I believe God gives us many gifts including ego and we humans find a way to misuse them.

Thankfully we have a God who practices what he preaches. Without his ultimate sacrifice we would all be lost.

My good friend, Richard, thank you so much for your generous comment and kind visit! To reply to your observations I have to say: a) I talk about a morsel of egoism b) When there is love, true love the other person who loves you, will never take advantage of you but care for you more than you can care for yourself! Since you brought God into the picture, please go to Saint John chapter 15:13 " Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. How could one do that when egoism prevails? God bless you my friend!

Ilene, my dear, thank you! Yes, I am a Ph.D. philosopher, a Greek word that means " Friend of Wisdom" but even though I am a 'friend of wisdom' IT DOESN'T mean that wisdom considers me a friend of hers! Ha-ha! You so gentle, thank you again!

I have found that out long ago that egoism will always get in the way of true happiness! There is a definite sacrifice there for happiness to be received! I really enjoyed reading this enlightening poem this morning! What a fantastic piece my friend, Great Work!!
