Secret Identity

Run from reality
Run from who you are
In a world of pixelated
Pleasure.

Seek your true self
In a sea of real faces
Peering back at you
Through the screen

 Sit mindless
Conducting short conversations
With secret identities
Alone in your room

Leave the dishes undone
Don’t miss the fun
Your children call to you
Ignore it.

Bathe in self-misery
And never go outside.
It’s all inside
Just beyond reach.

Live with your thoughts
And face it again.
When you turn it off.
