Secret

My little secret,
I'll keep you safe and warm.
Remind me that I'm still alive,
Not comatose, not paralyzed;
My tiny burning fire
Splitting my weak heart.

I need you;
I want you.
You know that;
Deceive me.

I promise to protect you,
Build a fortress tall and strong.
Stay inside,
Don't dare peek out!
They'll see you
And take you.

Cut you from my spirit,
A sharpness
In my empty chest.
You're the evil treasure:
My secret,
Secret talisman,
Curse me night and day.
Burn the sweetness in my soul.

My dirty little secret,
My pleasant little hurt,
I need you.
Oh, I want you to stay;
You'll not be let out.

You poison all my better moments;
Bittersweet, you draft my tears.
Please don't tell,
Just stay inside.
Keep you guarded,
Know you're mine,
Liquid salt strained from my eyes,
My little secret:
Keep it.
