Second Wind

Walkin’ in sunfogged early morning Waiting for pain to go away The aches and stiffs that come with rising Off to build a brand new day Summer thrives on making lazy But Fall slips in to have her way Watching shadows of the pebbles High light the gravel textured road careful stepping through the ridges rolling stones so softly toed Don’t look up the sun is blinding Stiffness loosens lower neck In the life of waking woodland Light scatters lifting of each leaf A quick deep breath and almost skipping Not halfway done and sweet relief
