Season's Parting
Chilled rain:
The aftermath of your doleful words
Stung so suddenly
With evening's gray tide
Hardened earth
Of your bitter resolve to be free
Froze my budding intentions
On soft, spring soil
Empty sky,
Devoid of your reasons,
Bored through my crumbling fantasy
With certainty’s cruel aim
Lingering frost:
A fading token of your winter storm –
A passionate assault
That did not last.
