Season's First Snowflakes Fell

The season's first snowflakes fell
briefly, for a moment.
They did not dwell.
The sky had brightened.
Sun shone on bitter cold.
Then they appeared,
Slowly drifting,
Teasingly, to the ground.
The season's first snowflakes fell.
