As the world sways and my eyes fall tight, I’m swept away by feelings in the night. I search through the life I’ve left behind, Hoping to find something within my mind. At what point in life did I drop this way? What is it, I ask— It’s unclear, I must say. But it’s something, I know, something for sure, Left behind without a trace or more. In my dreams, when my eyes have closed tight, Did I hear the calf’s cry in the night? Or the paired swallows flying so free, Nesting in spring's grey houses for me? Was it the lambs, so playful, so bright? Was it the green earth, my homeland in sight? The cotton-filled chest of a heart so wide, Or the boy who loved, with the girl by his side? Anyway, it stayed in this garden, deep inside. Was it the breeze that brushed my face, Or the stolen kiss, a lover’s grace? The days scattered, like leaves in the air, I wonder if I’ll find them still, somewhere.
