Screen of Awareness
Re-entered with edited title
Like a complex computer is your brain.
Like A. I., always it’s adapting and changing too.
However, being human, it’s hard to train
traditions and old feelings out of you.
If you’re normal, you’ve got a hard drive
that’s probably a little stuck, and that’s okay!
New software helps you out, but since around age five,
your computer’s wanted to stay a certain way!
The screen you show the world reflects the things
that make you who you are, and there are few
who change their hard drive even when life brings
amazing technology (experiences) to you.
Hard-wired in many ways you’ve been since birth
for the ways that you respond to good and bad.
Childhood is tied up greatly to your self-worth
and to the things that make you glad or sad.
You might not like what other folks can see
on your screen (reflections of the authentic you).
Some can hide those things, but eventually
certain things that trigger you show the world what’s true.
Mighty changes can be wrought through God and prayer,
but if you are really satisfied with what
the “real you” looks like, just love yourself, for there
is little doubt – good and caring people can trust their gut!
