Notes About The Poem

Am  Scoutmaster at a Boy Scout summer camp in the Sierras.  One of my scouts has been trying to get a merit badge for sail-boating, but lightening has been occurring at the same time for the last 3 days.

Scouts On Pinecrest Lake

Distant thunder roars.
Another thirty minutes,
All scout boats grounded.

Pretty large man-made lake, though low water due to drought. Scouts have these little boats that look like mini-catamarans. Saw a lot of families nearby along the shore, but few boats on the water. Lots of redwoods and yellow pines in the background.
