Score and Seven Years
SCORE AND SEVEN YEARS
There’s a resonance in rock and roll
But also wider for other thespians too
On reaching their twenty seventh year
The man with the scythe might appear
The number grows to more than a few
As if someone else owned their soul
An exclusive club that more have joined
Famous names from early Blues to Metal
Some troubled artists struggled in vain
Including Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain
For some, the thought won’t easily settle
Of the club name that has been coined
From Robert Johnson’s sad Delta Blues
To Amy Winehouse and others too
It even happened to the Rolling Stones
And the untimely death of Brian Jones
One wonders if they ever really knew
For most, an end they would not choose
