school shootings

school shootings
anguished screams

  public outrage
    calls for action
      marches & rallies
        media blitzes
          politicians fulminate
        propose legislation
       congress debates
     bills stall & die
  anger subsides

nothing happens
school shootings

Poetry ripped from the headlines. Well done, Gershon, but I wish it were fiction.

Perfect description, Mark!...I probably should use your comment, as part of the title or in the body of the poem. I like it a lot!...Thanks for viewing and for your kind words. ~Gershon

" Very well written, Gershon.. Absolutely true, breaks my heart when innocent young people lose their lives.. Proposing legislation would really be a start.. So tragic nothing is accomplished.. All the best to you, Gershon!! "

Every time I see it on TV , they say it must not happen again but it seems nothing really gets done. So many lives ruined and families left grieving. Tom.

Yup. It sure is sad, isn't it? ---But NOT ONE politician is serious about doing what it takes to really stop this stuff, as no politician could get elected who would advocate for the severity of the measures required...And so it goes, I guess. Pitiable, really....Best always, Gershon
