School Never Taught Me This

Language is multidimensional. Words slither and morph in my brain. A sentence’s meaning can be a journey. Once I finally translate what they mean… Somehow, I can only stutter. Maybe blurting out a word or two. Trying to acknowledge them. But still unable to engage. In school, you raise your hand and give the right answer. And then everyone is impressed. But in the real world the answer is constantly changing. And raising my hand would only get me laughed at. And that’s why I’m just a teacher’s pet.
