Savoring Sun
It disappeared from sky while locked inside
No squinting back at light
No one longs for more,
than those who are deprived
Warmth on skin, bronzing tone
Brings to life, melting snow
Nurtures leaves as they grow
Blooms return as it conquers cold
Shadows cast are welcomed back
Waking day dispels the black
Children play in stretching days
Beach sand warms to shining rays.

Memories flood with everlasting summer....
Rising just behind you....setting as we watched
Smells of aloe soothed my reddened skin
I only cursed you for melting my ice cream
Torturing ants with magnifying glass...
...sadistic children giggled in delight
We loathed the night, called back inside
Each day running into your welcoming arms
