Saved Soul

SAVED SOUL

Hey you, you got money
For this honey,
No, but need it ,
Take my watch,
It’s a swatch,
I need it now!
Not now, cops around,
Things are hot,
But need this pot!
Let’s be done
Then I’ll run!
And be gone!
People staring,
People gazing,
Heart is racing,
Want it now!
Ah, feels so good,
Think of home,
And my hood,
Mom and Dad
Took it too
Know that soon
I’ll be trash!
Mom and Dad,
Are now ash!
How long could
I last,
Look behind
At my past,
What am I,
I am high,
I’ve been bad,
Such a cad!
I need help
I am drowning
In a sea,
Of dissolution,
As I know
What will become
Of me!
Perhaps I should die,
Must be gone,
I feel high!
Walk to bridge,
On the ridge,
Arms reach out,
Grab me,
Next I see,
Bright lights,
Reach my soul,
Like burning coal,
Doctors, rushing all
So white,
Seem to want to
Put things right,
Nurses also
Safe my life.
From today,
Know now Want to
Be old and grey!
Who grabbed me,
Saved me,
It was He!

You have hit the nail right on the head with this poem. This is fast moving and that's how drugs are in our country, fast moving and effecting more and more individuals and families, which is very sad. We all need to start having more faith in a "Higher Power". Kim

Hi Kim, I intended the beat of my poem! Sadly faith seems to be slipping from our modern world! However I do be believe that we all somehow sometime in our lives question as long as we find our way back. Also, drugs are far too easily accessible especially to youngsters and peer pressure is immense!

G'day Jennifer … your poem hits such a problem that covers the world. It appears that addiction is the new age sport that has no class ownership - enjoyed your poem Jennifer - Lindsay

Hi Lindsay, You are quite right, it has no boundaries and knows no particular color creed or nation, it is there for the offering, and only the very strong willed will survive! Thank-you for your comment, glad you enjoyed it, Regards, Jennifer

Hi Caren, Read the girls in our office your comment and after having read my poem to them, they agree with you wholeheartedly! It has got a fast pace, but his saving Grace at the end is obvious. Thank-you Caren. Enjoy your always relevant comments. Take a deep breath and start again! xoxo Jennifer
