Save a Spot
i remember the time on a cold winters day
when i was called home from school
dad told me mama that you passed away
and his heart was crying for you
we all cried a lot on that day mom
me and dad and sister sal
some say it seems like only yesterday
but to me it seems like a thousand days of hell
it hurt dad so much you see
and he couldnt hold up his head
it even got worse just a while ago
when he learned that sally was dead
dad took to drinking a lot after that
and he couldnt carry on that way
mom save him a spot in heaven with you
because dad he just died today
now save me a spot in heaven with you
because soon mom i am coming home
tell the good lord to make us a spot
so we will never again be alone
