Notes About The Poem

St. Michael’s Gate is one of the oldest town symbols and the only preserved gate of the medieval fortification system in Bratislava, Slovakia. Today, its iconic Gothic tower and the narrow picturesque streets below it… are a vibrant cultural hub filled with street artists, cafes, and historic charm.

Saturday

Beneath St. Michael’s Gate
the reddish day trembles,
and ochre twilight fades
into a maze of narrow lanes.
Young musicians
beneath the shabby arcade
play an azure blues.
The air holds a brick-red hue,
like your body while making love.
I feel wonderful.
