Tanka
In Japanese, tanka is often written in one straight line, but in English and other languages, we usually divide the lines into the five syllabic units: 5-7-5-7-7.
Each Tanka is divided into two segments. The first three lines form the upper phrase, and the last two lines form the lower phrase. The upper phrase typically contains an image, and the lower phrase exposes the poet’s ideas about that image.

Bright blue sapphire skies trillium, daffodils, and soft pink cherry blossoms. Is there any wonder why, I eagerly await spring? (Tanka) 03,05,2022 Springtime Beauty Tanka Poetry Contest Poetry Contest Sponsored by: M. L. Kiser

Another perfect one! And, a good example for all who want to write Tanka. I find myself failing to make a difference between the first three and the last two lines. Good write, Emile.
