You are obviously referring to that oil spill, maybe not? My sister and her son and family live there and so does my son, wife and my grandson. It really spoiled the beach. You captured the ecstasy and the agony of this area exquisitely! : )

No, I think it has nothing to do with the oil spill. There are natural oil seeps just off the coast, and there has always been a faint smell of tar, especially on some beaches. It also washes up some clumps on the beach - but as far as I know, that is not a man made phenomenon, just nature.

wow, what an interesting mixture. I cannot even imagine it!! Take out the tar, and I almost can!! Love your use of Smellscape

Can't take out the tar :) It's a vital ingredient that makes it very unique.
