Sangria

I loved it when in college, Which is when I did imbibe it, Though syrupy and fruity Is how many would describe it. At parties, in a punch bowl, It was poured and filled with fruit - Mostly oranges and apples, Sometimes tangerines to boot. Though nowadays it's rarely served (Since things in vogue may pass), There is a local restaurant Where I enjoy a glass. It brings me back to years ago When life was how it was; The memories and alcohol Provide a pleasant buzz.

Ilene, I enjoyed reading your nostalgic write. Your last two lines sum up everything well. Blessings!

We used to get a pitcher at the Portuguese restaurant. First tasted it down in Florida at the Brown Derby where the waiter actually showed us how to make it. Ummm, maybe I'll go buy some oranges, lemons, limes and a bottle of wine to soak them with just a shot of brandy overnight and tomorrow... what a weekend.
