Sands of Time

Particles...
matter...
progenitor of glass
refined like a chandelier.

Crystal realities shine like rainbows
dancing in the air.
Shattered and broken
shards splinter and fall,
splinter and fall to the ground...
swept up as debris and tossed in the bin.

How...
and more importantly why?

Oh, why did such sorrow come calling on me?

Why am I tossed in the trash?

Eons of time break me down,
down to my very core
to be washed ashore, broken and shorn
by the waves of the unceasing sea.

Look at my presence,
look at me now.

Look...
what has become...
of me.
