Sands Flow
Wonder if the sands will ever run out
Or is it a continuous hourglass
Relentlessly flowing through
Oh just to be able to stop it
For the last grain to tumble down
To exhale a sigh of relief
As the last of the hurt and pain
Ride on the back of the last grain
And settles on the mound of sand
A forever resting place
But for now it just goes on
A mixture of sorts
Of pain and sorrow
Of hurt and burning tears
Of bitterness and anger
Of sadness and longing
Of desperation and hope
All smoothly traveling down
Endless hours just ticking away
On neverending days
Cruel to think it doesn’t stop for me
That rest never comes at the end
So I grasp it tightly in both hands
As I heave it above my head
And bring it all crashing down
Around me
Sand around me
Glass around me
Days resting at my feet
Finally it has stopped
Finally it no longer flows
Finally I can breathe……
