Sandpaper Words
I hope my sandpaper words
rub you raw
Want ‘em to be abrasive,
stick in your craw
My prickly gruff words
will make your eyes bulge,
and jut your jaw
Baby, meet the ghetto Sandman,
he gon tell you ‘bout your sins
He gon give you bad dreams again
I hope my sandpaper words
really rub you raw
Make you wanna repent,
and follow God’s law
Do sincerely pray
them hot, grinding words
make your ice cold heart thaw
Baby, meet the ghetto Sandman,
he gon tell you to cast away your sins
He gon try to revive your conscience again
I hope my sandpaper words
smooth out your rough edge
Place your finely detailed soul
on a gleaming polished spiritual ledge
Baby, you met the ghetto Sandman,
he got you reflecting the light of love within
He got you shining good with God again
