Sandcastles
sometimes we wonder
why we bother
why struggle...
what's the purpose?
seems like we are,
and we build
sandcastles by the sea
sandcastles of
who we are
what we want to accomplish
sandcastles of our hopes
and aspirations
only to find
they are totally
at the mercy of the sea
life seems a structure
so flimsy, so loosely
held together, of the
weakest materials-
wind or water
make light of us
like we're just waiting for the sea
to wash us into
the past
can you be fearless
of the power of the tide?
yawn in the face of death?
if you can, show us
if you can't-
let's together find
a way inland.
