Sandcastle

The hourglass holds the sands of my life,
                  The sands of time.
As I hold it in my hands it cracks.
                With tears in my eyes,
I try to catch every speck.

               I treat time like money,
it slips through my hands the same way I spend.

I need more of it, and it never ends.
But I can't seem to grab it,
like it doesn't want to be friends.

                Is time my enemy?
Do I waste it on my dreams?

As I sit on the beach,
My tears flow into the ocean.
       The sands have all gone.

So I try to build a sandcastle.

Only the wind knocks it down,
Like nature itself knows what I'm after.

            Please give me time,
             to fix my hourglass.

This time is supposed to be mine,
      no matter what happens.
I'll spend it so that I shine.
