Notes About The Poem

Listen to poem:

Sand Through the Hourglass

if only we still had
all the time in the world
and our youth to squander
all the paths to explore
and wander at our leisure

the echo amplified
do you not hear the clamor
as each grain of sand
through the hourglass
counts down each hour

to me it's as loud as thunder
a warning for us to make amends
and reconcile the time we've left
though it might be wonderful to linger
soon enough we'll be called
to our next and ultimate adventure

At every angle of the hourglass, wanting it to turn over and begin again.
