Sand promises

Ethiopia through Djibouti
to Yemen, to hopeful life
runs Sun's angry route

A glum path to escape poverty
impulsive one-way journey
fear strengthens patience

keepers turned exploiters to smugglers
dump or sell or kill their dreams
new brokers fill hopes

shifting sand promises shift their goals
'Selling hair to purchase a comb'
no turning now, walk

starved, extorted, violated, yet
hearsays goad guileless hearts
burying truth, lies march

For example, your line at the end of the first stanza of this poem just sounds ominous. From where I live in the US all I can do is pray for those people, pray for mercy and peace for them. I am so very grateful to you for this kind visit dear friend, Yes we can pray for them and also be thankful to Lord for our good fortune of living in dignity. Your mere visit made my day, thank you.
