Sand Castle

I cry with a smile on
I’m not over you -
I know I have to be
I deserve love
Love that you couldn’t show

Your love was in your sand castle
Until storms came in your life
Washing away away your sand castle
Along with your love for me

Never could you build a sand castle to withstand the storms
Over the years we rebuild numerous times
My scars layered on top of each other
Tilting my heart
To drop
Exploding on your sand castle
Never to rebuild

We were just a passing storm
Hot and wild
Burning out
Devouring our souls
Locked up in the castle
Built with sand
Never going to last
No matter how hard I tried
But you kept building your sand castle
Hiding in the tower
Until one day
The storm washed you away
Along with your sand castle
Losing our love forever

We weren’t anymore
