Salute To the Stream of Wittborough
Oh! Stream flowing unabated,
Pure and crystal clear,
Beside you our warriors stooped to drink,
Weary and worn out they were,
They had travelled miles,
A journey from the enemy’s camp,
They took the battle to the enemy’s territory,
It was an intense battle,
Some fell away,
Some were injured,
Others helped to carry the wounded,
Oh! Stream when they came to you,
When they drank from you,
They were revived again,
They were strengthened,
Both the wounded and the weary,
Our men were lost in the woods,
You flowed ahead of them,
You showed them the way,
The enemies that chased them,
You ward off and blinded,
We salute you,
Oh! Stream of Wittborough,
By your help,
Our land has known peace,
By your aid,
Our land has seen many days of rest,
Oh! Fount of newness,
Oh! Fount of serenity.
