Salt Spray

The biting wind flaps the stray strands of hair into my face I close my eyes and remember the day that I met the sea it waved at me Closing my eyes so that I could see the dancing colors on my eyelids Walking a march so slow Watching my footprints go Did one ever know What to show the ocean? It gives back but do we give back? The sea mourns for us all maybe could one learn the truths yet, it seems like a pondering waste The deceit that we give the brutal honesty that the sea shows Take care for what we love, in shame in what we have lost

Fantastic imagery in this. I am suprised that there are no other comments as this is an outstanding piece of poetry. 'I close my eyes and remember the day that I met the sea' is a superb way of expressing an emotion. The personalisation of the sea reinforces the metaphor well and allows the reader the scope to sail along with it. I wasn't too sure about the last couplet. At first I thought it unnecessary, but on further reading I think it works really well.
