Salt and Spring

I felt the sun on my face today
& at first it frightened me
because it's been so
long since anything
had come to me
gently.

And
I thought
of you and how
you would be so proud
of the progress I had made
but, when I stopped to share it
with you, you had already turned to
salt. I ruined you because I was
too selfish to realize that as
I was going through hell,
I was dragging you
through it,
too.
