Sailor

Away at sea
All she can think about
Is him

The way his eyes
Follow her
And never let her stray too far

The way his lips
Brush against her ear
And whisper promises
Of adoration

The way his fingers
Grab her waist
Ensuring she is
Not alone

But when she returns
Knotted in his embrace
All she can think about
Is the ocean

The way the current
Carries her past
Where she’s ever been before

The way the waves
Strike upon her legs
Stinging her skin
Awakening her soul

The way the horizon
Lays faultlessly ahead
Reminding her
She is distant
From any other soul

So she leaves
His eyes
His lips
His fingers
The warmth of his grasp
For the wrath of the sea
