Sage Floating In Swan Lake
SAGE FLOATING IN SWAN LAKE
How do you squeeze a man’s body into the coin slot?
With twine and treacherous stabbing.
The machine turned malevolent after dumping
an entire life’s savings into Swan Lake.
Battered and bludgeoned
the modern-day machine dies,
with dilated eyes, curiously
never seeing, the winsome beauty
of the Catskill mountains - Walter Sage
sinks in prohibition’s graveyard tears.
