Safe Room

I stopped watching TV some time ago.

Because I was laughing for no reason at the screen.

Laughing at the colors, and sounds.

Yet not understanding the words.

So instead, I would walk in circles to entertain myself.

Or run around outside, as if I’m being chased.

They said that’s dangerous because I would wander into the streets.

So I went back to my circles, in the safety of my room.

Fast, then slow, fast, then slow.

Pacing as quietly as possible as not to disturb anyone.

Pretending I’m being chased, just for the fun of it.

Until I would get tired enough to fall asleep…

In this safe room.

Where I can panic in peace.
