Sadness

Guard your tears well in this lifetime, my friend
You'll surely need them when your world turns sad
And turn it will from beginning to end
As you will lose love that you thought you had

All our teardrops are rationed in this life -
Sadness is the biggest user by far
Do not be caught with no tears for your strife
Guard them closely as if kept in a jar

You will see forlorn men who cannot cry
Heartbroken women who cannot shed a tear
Sadness will destroy them by and by
Without tears to cleanse and wash away fear

Save tears for sadness - the sadness, my friend
For I am now dry and have none to lend
