Sad Sea Tale

SAD SEA TALE There was once an old man of the ocean For a mermaid he had a devotion But instead of two pins She’d a tail and some fins Which precluded their harmonic motion But in spite of her disparate corpus They maintained their romance polymorphous ‘Til a herring one day Brought a message to say That she’d gone off to live with a porpoise [Gift for a lady]

This poem is awesome. I particularly love the play on words of the last line. Totally charming. I loved finding your delightful poem published in the 2020 PS Anthology ~ A FAVE for me

Geoffrey, if this had been only one limerick but with such fine humor as that last stanza had, you could have pulled off a first place!! Congrats in my contest.

Truly one of the most fun limericks I've seen, Geoffrey. I don't know how you came up with the rhymes in the second verse and they all worked well. The punch line is over the moon! Thanks for the laughs. Congratulations on your first-place win! Please send me a Soup mail with an address where I can send the prize for a lady.
