Sacrifice

We stand and wait
We face this fate so dire
We see the moon
Knowing our sun’s on fire

There’s no escape
We chose this end
They’ll get away
But let’s not pretend

Weapons drawn
We eat and swallow fear
No time to mourn
No time for tears

Our lives were born
Out of war and hate
The world of men
Is just too desolate

They’re much too young
To wield axe and blade
They’re much too young
To to kill someone

They’ll have a chance
That we were never given
Perhaps sleep at night
With no fear for living

No peace in sight
No rest for us
Some may have life
A life of suns

We try not to think
We try not to run
We bought them time
The moon lights our eyes
We’ll die for them.
