Sacrifice

Sacrifice

Ten years have passed since that fateful day,

When that truck intervened with the life I enjoyed.

Countless surgeries and pain as clear as yesterday,

Years of drugs and depression, a toll they’ve taken.

Without the love of my kids, my life I’d have forsaken,

As my old way of life was completely destroyed

Sacrifices have been made to my families lifestyle.

Pain my companion, adjusting to physical limitation,

Meant no belief in a life I deemed not worthwhile.

It’s my boys and their love that helped me survive,

They've endured with me, and their love keeps me alive.

I love our life today and drive on without hesitation.
