** For my dear friend Sachiko - across the sea ... you have taught me how to see life with the eyes of my youth, eyes I had all the time, but didn't know how to open. **
Dear, sweet flower of the Orient,
How kind you have been to me!
We are but half-a-world away,
Yet the scent of your blossom
Is carried to me on the breeze,
Its silky aroma a charm, sublime,
With a tender fragrance of affection.
Like soft notes from a shakuhachi,
You have brought to me a song
Of Byzantine beauty and grace ...
Like snowflakes on Mount Fuji,
Your heartfelt notes have drifted
Into my days to make me smile,
Giving me a gift, forever priceless -
Your sincere and true friendship ...
Thank you, my dear, precious Sachiko.
