Numbers transfigure into another skin
How I hate the countless ways
Of meaningless days
Day by day I peer through the haze
Hoping to find some calculation
A hand to navigate
Numbers seem to agitate
Counting the days remaining
Standing in the reign of fools
Pretending to deduce the antitheses of our being
Hypothesizing how life began
Theorizing this & that
Debating history with fact
Numbers linger in the air
Before too long we'll suffocate
Disintegrate into a billion pieces
Never to see the conclusion of our fate.

Thought provoking poem with an interesting angle. After reading this a couple of times, something beyond the concrete of numbers still provides one with hope. Vivid ending. Thank you for sharing your poem with us and for your kind words on mine. Keep on writing! Karen
