Russian Dreams

Ukraine screams
In the deep of night
The death squad’s March and gaily sing
The motherland is great
Jews are all dead
Russia is the new Reich
No matter what the putain has said

Estonia has fallen
Latvia knows it’s a recall of old Stalin
It started with Russians
Shooting black Russians in the Volga night
Whipping pussy riots into a frenzy
The free press all but surrendered
Or maybe butchered ya?
The orthodox clergy recalled to the crusades

The Kremlin will march
Like Napoleon before
Not heeding history
Or the battles lost in lore
Russians have been imprisoned
In the century before

This is why
You may live to see
………..a new world war of three

This is a frightening read, so tragic and so unnecessary. You are very skilled at highlighting issues that are devastating. This one touches me as my grandparents came from a small village in the Ukraine. The children in orphanages is what I think of. They don't have a choice, nor a voice. As much as I admire your talent, I will be glad of the day you not have to write of such horror, Arthur.:-) blessings, lynn

Thank you, I agree, and these days my heart cries for Ukraine, having many friends from there, here!

This is my fear too, Arthur. I am in Europe, mangled between all sorts of megalomaniac rulers. Utter powerless feeling, this.

Don't fret my friend, in the end is I who shall rule the world!

Oh no! I stopped watching the news because, like your poem, it fills me with dread.

Really strong first line, Arthur. These are troubling times, and Russia is not the only reason. Let's hope it does not come to the worst.

I found much talent and authenticity to your poem. I wanted to write "I like your poem", but I cannot because the topic leaves nothing to like. It is apt, it is right on, it is well-written, but what's happening over there is sad and as scary as your poem relates. Well done, Arthur, I say as I pray ... CayCay

Very nice, Arthur, very scary to think about. Will humanity ever learn? Maybe not. Hilarious to see Lenin and Stalin with the drinking cups....
