Runner

“When you find yourself in a hole, quit digging.”
- Quote by Will Rogers
----------------------------------------------------
Ever since a kid
I have learnt to run
Sensitive to what others say, feel, decide
When the say is crude rude hurting
When others feel I can be pushed over
When others decide how I should be
I run

Ever since a kid, I have learnt to run.
Sensitive to patterns on harm, hate, jealousy
When the harm is on sensible senses
When hatred is hissing between teeth
When jealousy manipulates paths
I run

Ever since a kid, I have learnt to run.
Joy touches heart, sorrow heats up soul
It takes courage to run away
Than to stay put sometimes.
They don’t even know I am long gone
Being with them all the time
I run

Oh, Thriveni this is gorgeously told. I can feel the little kid running when I read it. "harm on sensible senses...hatred is hissing" is heartbreaking in the most universal way. Beautiful work. I'd love to see this piece with more specificity, like descriptions of the harm or healing as a lived moment when you experienced this feeling. Not as a revision of this piece, but as an extension of the story. Well done.

keeping distance mentally solves many problems in life dear friend, difficult to learn yet worth all the time. Thank you so much for feeling the write. about 'moment' dear poet I couldn't ride through the culture-curve. who said we are free? we all are invisibly chained to societal norms. I am ever grateful to you for your precious time & words dear poet, May you be blessed with happiness, you brought me joy today.

The “ever since a kid” is so sad… It takes courage to run away Than to stay put sometimes. Yes, we have to learn both and discern which one is good for the moment…I didn’t say right because who knows what is right. Hugs
