Runaway Day

Tickets? Two,
On our runaway day
To the capital.
To these streets,
We are strangers,
So my hand and your hand can
Mesh, quite happily,
Being blatant companions
For a while.
Oh, nothing can cancel
My smile today,
And it’s clearly contagious,
Yours caught from a kiss.
These skyscrapers shade us,
Keep us secret,
Keep us safe.
Lovers? Two.
One runaway day
Will be our last.
Can we, shall we,
Run away
And stay away?
