Run, But Can'T Hide

Whispers on the wind, of times long ago
Trying to gain entry into your heart and soul
Ancestors sleep beneath the earth and stones
Leaving their footprints even after dust claims their bones

Visions come to you at night and even when awake
You see the past through eyes not yours, but also not fake
Could it be a dream or visions of someone else's memories
or is it that your past caught up to you through time and space

You can run but you can't hide from the lives you led
The same is true of present day of your actions and words said
They all come back to haunt you and leave their own footprints
Upon the gentle souls of others, who can forgive but not forget
