Rubens Love

I have your Love in my care
he sleeps sweetly, soundly
he knows he is safe
as I cover him and kiss his hair.

The two of us witnessed you at your last
the ones you loved most
the ones you held closest
not knowing we would be trapped in the past.

How sore and bitter is my broken heart
your oblivion meant so much more
you craved a darkness we didn't share
your Demons did their best to keep us apart.

I feel you in the room, sitting so closely
I can feel your heartbeat as you say
You were why I could leave
watch over my Love, for he is the best of me.

it does not get more beautifully morose than "you craved a darkness we did not share". so sad and so wonderfully done

'Your Demons did their best to keep us apart" Wow. This is so powerfully bittersweet with such huge depth of loss.
