Roses Are Red

ROSES ARE RED

ROSES ARE RED
The flower’s crimson cerise hue
creates the petal’s grand debut
of love and memories to recall
my florid sanquine gift of all

VIOLETS ARE BLUE
Alzea breath with foxglove tones
embellish with an azure clone
herbaceous with a petal white
where insects set and birds alight

SUGAR IS SWEET
Bright butterflies on zephr breeze
sip nectar from Sakura trees
I watch them dance from break of dawn
on flowers where their wings adorn

AND SO ARE YOU
You sent me a bouquet of love
drifting down from heaven above
candy kisses sweet as fructose
on bended knee you now propose

Hello Ralph, I'm glad I dropped by to read "Roses are Red." This one is marvelous collaboration between you and Jan. In my book, this one's an extraordinary rhyme for sure. The blend of the words, the metaphors, and the subsequent imagery rendered is superb and truly poetic. A FAVE!! Cheers and Best, Gary

What a great idea, to take an old rhyme, line by line, and create verses to coincide with each one. Lots of praise to both of you.

It was an honour to be asked to write with Ralph and I am delighted with the way the poem turned out - I struggle with romantic writes not like you do!:-) hugs Jan xx

Correction Daniel lol I am married and I write poems about poop and farting... but yep I admit hand on heart I do 'pass wind' on the odd occasion but then again everyone does although some folks would never admit it:-) hugs jan xx
