Rose Petals
One by one, the rose petals slip through his fingers
Showering his feet with colour and scent
They make beautiful little spiral dances
As they shimmer and hum towards the earth
But his eyes do not see the beauty in their fall
Nor the trail of scent left behind as he walked
His mind is away, soaring on it's own adventure
Capturing something more exquisite than the floral rain at his feet
The blossom in his hand had been destined for someone special
Who makes his heart dance like the glittering pattern of falling petals
But the shattered petals tell a woeful story
For his quest had failed to secure her favour
He walks away, his heart in shattered pieces
Left behind on the crushed fading petals of a rose blossom
