Rose Colored Glasses
Light, camera, action.
Roll out the grass, clean up the streets -- everything
must be pristine. Open shops, spread out!
Food, clothes, soap.
Get your fill, take a real shower -- you
are staying a while. New clothes, no patches!
Quiet, smile, play.
Look like you’re happy, start a game of soccer --make
this look good. Nobody can see, nobody can know!
Hurry, guns, crying.
Fill the cattle cars, no time for packing -- dying
is your destiny, our deception is your legacy!
This poem is in response to the hoax created by the Nazis in the Terezin ghetto.
