Rose

Rose

there is a special reason why I chose
the glorious scent of an heirloom rose
this precious flower blooms every spring
a wonderous fragrance, the Rose doth bring
its aroma draws me in with every breath
reminding me of Mom, ever since her death
this scent makes me feel a certain way
it helps me remember, my mother each day
an amazing woman, Rose was her name
twenty-five years now, it’s really a shame
from the soft red petals to the ground where it grows
now you know why, I’m drawn to the rose
